It also performs well in our cooling tests, though we're not a fan of its plastic handles and the bins with a crisper design feel a little flimsy.

One thing that sets the RF23M8090SG apart is its Bespoke line which lets you personalize your fridge by removing colored panels that can be swapped out when you're bored of the current ones. There are 11 different colors, from soft pastels to bolder hues and four metallic finishes. Some of these panels can be customized with text or photos making the fridge a personal feature that can be matched to your tie-dye Crocs, Rick Owens dress or Andy Warhol banana neon sign.

You can even alter the color of the fridge's LED lighting, which is a nice touch. The interior of the fridge has a smart finish which reduces smudges, and makes cleaning easier. The only negatives to the RF23M8090SG are its somewhat cramped beverage center and an incline to learn curve when it comes to opening the door-in-door feature that houses a water pitcher as well as a dispenser. You must feel for an opening on the side of the door that is halfway across, and once you do you will be able to open an additional door inside the fridge, which houses the pitcher docking station as well as the water dispenser, and two shelves for drinks.

The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is large enough to store a wide range of frozen foods, and it features an impressive slide-out drawer that allows you to get the food you're looking for without opening the whole compartment. However, it also has a couple of nagging issues. Our tests show that the FGHB2866PF gets warm quite some in the freezer, and it can be uncomfortable warm on the refrigerator's outermost shelving. Our heat maps show how the temperature fluctuates minute by minute. The orange region in the top right, representing the butter bin, is particularly warm for most of the time we tested. It might not seem to be a problem initially however, the fridge spends most of the time above 32 degrees.

It's also worth mentioning that the FGHB2866PF isn't an Energy Star-certified model, which could be a factor for certain buyers. The real problem is that this fridge isn't very good. It's not equipped with the latest features and a durable construction, making it difficult to recommend it over more expensive models at this price.

This Frigidaire fridge is identical to the stainless steel model you might find in your local appliance store. It's a good choice with a brushed finish that looks great and is resistant to streaks. However, it doesn't offer much to differentiate itself from competitors which are more feature-rich and less expensive.

If you're looking for a cheap counter-depth French door refrigerator and do not have the money to spend a lot on our top choices, then the FGHC2331PF is worth a look. It's got enough storage for many families, and does a decent job keeping food fresh. Even if it's not an energy-efficient model, it doesn't even come close to costing more than our top-rated models do.
